As always, here we are with another amazing musical journey with the Grateful Dead (& Friends). This months show is the Dead's first show at Red Rocks, and I think they deliver just fine. For halftime we have some great solo Rick Danko with his toned down interpretations of his material with The Band. Always good stuff coming your way... enjoy the ride!

All the way back in 2007 I knew this show smoked heavily... but my FM copy was almost too bad to put out there, I did anyway. Flash forward to now, I am able to Flashback to this show with a much better copy of the recording. A great show with a bunch of "goes-intah's" in there. For half-time, we have some great Bob Dylan studio out-takes for you all to enjoy.

A lot of folks have requested this show, and it sucks to always tell people "We already did that one"... so for those that haven't heard it, here ya go. And those that have heard it, well... enjoy it again!
This month we take you back to the October 2011 Episode of the podcast... this was "Bob's" second appearance on the show, and his tales of the events of 2/17/79 are quite entertaining. This also marked the first time the Dead played at the Oakland Coliseum, and the last time Keith & Donna would be on stage. Bob Marley was the half time show that month.
Tune in at the first of the month for another great show, and while I am sell-distancing I will bring you some other goodies from the vault very, very soon.

What is Dead Show of the Month?
Tuesday Feb 22, 2011
Tuesday Feb 22, 2011
I started it all on Christmas 2006. At that point I had a respectable 500 hours of Live Grateful Dead music and decided that I could not keep it to myself... I had to share. I picked the first 5 guys and gals I could think of that were serious dead freaks, but not serious tape collectors, and sent them disks of a show, once a month. It seemed they liked it. So, I kept it going, each Christmas adding 4 or 5 new folks while dropping the old ones softly off. The people who got added liked it... the dropped off ones, not so much. This year I began to offer the shows, but in a digital manner only. My folks had to come over or mail me a flashdrive, but I could handle EVERYONE who wanted in. Seemed a good trade. It also enabled more flexibility by allowing folks to burn to CD, convert them to mp3 and playing them on their iPod's or even playing them on their Playstation's as one whole show.
Now, we have found the realm of podcasting... how cool, eh? Each month, Your Old Friend Dave will bring you a complete Grateful Dead show, hand picked from my present 10,000 hour 'tape' vault. As always, you will get fun-filled filler for half-time hi-jinks as well as a glimpse of the next months offering. The Podcast does enable me to acheive what I have always imagined the Dead Show of the Month being: One long seamless run of Grateful Dead music with tasty filler to act as an intermission of sorts... perfect for long road trips, house cleaning day or some other day or night where having 3-4 hours of mind-bending psychedelic music engaging your senses would be advantageous! I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoy providing it!
